WENTZVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) – The east bound lanes of I-70 were blocked for an hour and a halrf near Wentzville after a tractor trailer rig was blown on its side, and on top of a car.

The accident has been cleared and I-70 is once again open.

An eye witness told KMOX news it was an unbelievable sight as a fast moving storm moved across I-70.  He said the storm “came right out of the clear blue sky.”

There are also numerous tree limbs down along Mexico Road in St. Peters.  1.7 inches of rain fell in St. Peters along with pea size hail.  Half-inch hail was also reported in O’fallon Missouri.

Spotters in Washington County report tree and power lines down near Piney Park along Highway A.

I was in that huge storm, and visibility was almost nil during the worst of it. It didn’t help that many cars did not have the headlights on! I guess they have lots of faith that they will be seen (by old people, those not paying attention, people swerving to avoid high water on the roads and just plain idiots.) Come on!!! Just how much effort would it take to turn on those beams? Unless they are too dumb to remember to turn them off when final destination is reached.

My husband and I stopped to see if we could help at this crash site. We had our children with us and could hear the emergancy response vehicles coming so we quickly moved out of the way. Before we left we were told that the driver of the car was trapped. It was clear from the others there that this was a desperate situation. I have not been able to sleep with this vision in my mind. I am very eager to hear if the driver of the car survived and how the truck driver us doing. I hope there is word soon or a published report. Is there anyone I can call for information?
