(KMOX) – Republicans needed a net gain of 10 to take the Senate, which analysts considered that to be a tough road.
Democrats however didn’t seriously dispute expectations that they would lose the House. NBC & CBS News has project that once all the votes were counted, Republicans would hold 237 seats to 198 for the Democrats.
If so, Republican leader John Boehner of Ohio would succeed Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California as speaker.
