ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) — With little demand for flu shots this season, the downtown urgent care center is offering a free flu vaccination when patients drop off toy donations for the Toys for Tots foundation.

Medical director of the Downtown Health and Wellness Center Sonny Sagar said if someone donates a new, unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots they will qualify for a free flu shot.

“We are going to have about 1,000 flu shots that will end up being wasted this flu season,” Sagar said. “So instead of wasting them, people can receive a flu shot for no charge if they donate a toy to Toys for Tots from now until Christmas Eve.”

Sagar also said there’s no serious H1N1 threat this year, but  it is still wise to protect yourself and your loved ones by getting a flu shot as soon as possible.
