Jan. 17, 2011 – Hundreds of people packed into the rotunda of the Old Courthouse in downtown St. Louis Monday for the local King Day celebration.

Numerous songs and hymns were followed by speeches from U.S. Senator Roy Blunt, Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, St. Louis police chief Dan Isom and many others.

Afterwards, many of those in attendance filed outside to take part in the annual King Day march from the Old Courthouse to Powell Hall.

Jan. 7, 2011 - Dozens of orange-shirted volunteers go to work cleaning up storm damage at a park adjacent to Sunset Hills police headquarters. They were working Friday, in advance of an all-out effort this weekend in which up to 500 workers will line up elbow-to-elbow and march in a line, picking up every piece of debris in their path, whether it's storm-related or not. SUNSET HILLS, Mo. (KMOX) -  Volunteers are mobilizing in big numbers to help clean up storm damage in hard-hit Sunset Hills.more

Lindbergh Boulevard was closed between West Watson and East Watson in Sunset Hills for more than 12 hours starting late Thursday night due to concerns about a possible explosion at a storm-damaged medical center. ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -  Charges have been filed against a man accused of stealing a car at gunpoint late Tuesday night.more

Jan. 6, 2011 – Funeral services were held Thursday morning for U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Kenneth Corzine.

He died on Christmas Eve from injuries suffered earlier in the month while serving in Afghanistan.

Approximately fifteen hundred 3-x-4 foot American flags lined the streets of Bethalto from the airport to the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church where the funeral was held.

About a half-dozen protestors from the infamous Westboro Baptist Church of Kansas showed up to protest U.S. policy on gays in the military and other issues, but they were drowned out by a much larger crowd of onlookers who burst into impromptu renditions of the Star Spangled Banner and Amazing Grace.

ST. LOUIS (KMOX) -  A burglar looking for valuable copper pipes instead found lead — in the form of two bullets that struck him in the leg.more

EDWARDSVILLE, Mo. (KMOX) -  A Madison County man and three teens are in custody in connection with a home break-in over the weekend.

The thieves targeted firearms in the home of Robert L. Williams on N. 61st St. in Fairmont City, Illinois.

Nearly two-dozen guns were taken, along with jewelry and cash.

One of those arrested turned out to be the victim’s son, 18-year-old James R. Williams, who lives in the home with his father and first reported the robbery.

Also charged with residential burglary were 17-year-old Rian McCallister of Caseyville, 19-year-old Dustin J. Brown and 26-year-old Matthew S. Turner, both of Collinsville.

Each suspect is being held on $150,000 bond.

Jan. 5, 2011 – A fountain now stands in a courtyard at the ABB transformer plant in north St. Louis. 

It was dedicated during a 30-minute long ceremony Wednesday morning in remembrance of three workers who were killed and five others who were wounded during an hours-long rampage by a disgruntled employee on Jan. 7, 2010. more

Jan. 4, 2011 - The James S. McDonell USO chapter at Lambert-St. Louis Airport is collecting supplies to send to dozens of families at Ft. Leonard Wood who lost their homes in the New Year’s Eve storm.more
