Debbie Monterrey

Debbie Monterrey, co-host of “Total Information AM,” joined the KMOX staff in July 2003. Her career in radio and communications began in Missouri while attending Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. She also interned at KSDK-TV while in college.

Her radio reporting/anchoring career took her to Greenville, SC, and then to Madison, WI, where she was morning show co-host and news anchor of the award-winning “Madison’s Morning News” and was later the host of her own afternoon talk show. Debbie moved to Columbus, OH, where she anchored morning news at the top-rated WTVN-AM. She and her morning team won the 2000 Ohio Associated Press Award for “Best Regularly Scheduled Newscast.” A call from the newly sworn-in Governor McCallum brought Debbie back to Madison, WI. There, she served as press secretary to Governor Scott McCallum and later, served as communications director for the McCallum for Governor campaign.Debbie holds a B.A. in Communications/Journalism from, Northeast Missouri State University, now Truman State University.

Debbie has been awarded five regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio-Television News Directors Association since joining the KMOX staff. She has a Missouri Broadcasters Award for best feature reporting and a national AFTRA American Scene award. Debbie was named to the 2005 “40 Under 40” class by the St. Louis Business Journal. She works with numerous charities in the St. Louis area and serves on the board of Friends of Tower Grove Park and Circus Flora.

Debbie lives in the City of St. Louis and is thrilled with the constant, positive changes taking place in the strong city neighborhoods.
