Internships are non paid and must be done for college credit. Students must be currently enrolled in a college or university. Lengths of internships vary based on school requirements.

Convergence Journalism Interns
KMOX has been Mid-America’s most trusted source for news for over eighty years. We are looking for the next generation of journalists who have a passion for telling stories – and can do so through the written word and the lens of a camera. A good story knows no medium. As an intern for the multi-platform KMOX newsroom, you’ll work with a group of experienced journalists and have the opportunity for hands-on experience. What you’ll get to do:
-Students will accompany KMOX news reporters on story assignments and have the opportunity to participate in story preparation and construction.
-Students will be exposed to newsroom culture and assist in updating the KMOX website with content produced by KMOX news reporters.
-Students will assist the newsroom to ensure the KMOX website is properly updated with content from various wire services.
-Students will participate in brainstorming creative, multimedia ways of sharing stories online.
What you need to know:
-Students must be a junior or senior, majoring in journalism, mass communications or a related field.
-Students with journalism and/or web design experience preferred.
-Students will have the opportunity to work in a professional radio newsroom and receive feedback on their performance.
-Students will be able to put their academic training to use by mirroring duties of a modern radio news staff.
-This internship is unpaid and must be done for college credit.
-Must be at least 18 years old
-We work with each student individually based on the requirements of your school

Marketing/Promotions Interns
Now accepting applications for Spring, Summer and Fall internships As an intern for the KMOX marketing department, a student can gain valuable experience in many areas of the radio broadcasting industry. The student will have the opportunity to collaborate in every phase of station marketing and promotions, from concept generation to execution.
Internship duties include, but are not limited to:
-Preparing contesting, event-related, and departmental documents, such as prize sheets, agendas, remote forms, and staff memos
-Scheduling on-air talent and support staff for station events and appearances
-Soliciting and preparing promotional items and prizes for on-air contesting and event giveaways
-Collaborating with Web site administrator in updating online contest, event information, and community calendar
-Responding to listener inquiries and providing assistance and information to station contest winners
-Assisting with day-to-day office operations
-Providing on-site support at various KMOX events and appearances
This internship is a non-paid position and must be done for college credit. In order to be considered for an internship, the student must:
-Be available to work some evenings and weekends at various station events
-Have a strong desire to gain extensive marketing experience at the top radio station in St. Louis
-Possess strong writing and oral communication skills
-Show initiative and ability to work independently

Digital/Marketing Interns
The Digital/Marketing Intern will work with the web and marketing departments in updating the KMOX website. The intern will also assist with basic marketing functions, including events, appearances, etc. A successful candidate will have strong computer skills and be detail-oriented and willing to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
What you’ll get to do:
-Help manage the KMOX website
-Update website with events, community calendar features, special features, etc.
-Post photo galleries of news and sporting events (photos provided by outside partners)
-Post other content provided by our partners (including videos, widgets, etc.)
-Monitor user generated content (approve photos and comments submitted by website visitors)
-Help maintain fresh content (update biographies, show pages, schedules)
-Providing on-site support at various KMOX events and appearances
-Assist marketing department with day-to-day office operations as needed
What you need to know:
-Students must be a junior or senior, majoring in marketing, public relations, web design, communications or a related field.
-Students must have strong computer skills
-Students must have strong writing and organizational skills
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) required
-Proficiency in Adobe applications (Photoshop, Illustrator) preferred, but not required
-Basic knowledge of web design and HTML preferred, but not required
-This internship is unpaid and must be done for college credit
-Must be at least 18 years old
-We work with each student individually based on the requirements of your school

Sports Department Interns
KMOX Sports would like 1-2 interns for the summer and fall semesters. Interns must be willing to work odd hours, including a lot of nighttime and weekend hours. Responsibilities will include taping highlights, editing tape, researching for shows, and assisting and observing air talent.
This internship is a non-paid position and must be done for college credit. In order to be considered for an internship, the student must:
-Be available to work some evenings and weekends at various station events
-Have a strong desire to gain extensive marketing experience at the top radio station in St. Louis
-Possess strong writing and oral communication skills
-Show initiative and ability to work independently

Sales Interns
As an intern in the KMOX sales department, a student can gain valuable experience in many areas of the radio broadcasting industry. The student will have the opportunity to collaborate in every phase of station commercial sales while being mentored by top level, experienced sellers.
Experience will include, but is not limited to:
-Aide in execution of clients needs analysis
-Help prepare proposal for client presentation
-Learn to negotiate sales deals
-Aid in selling on-air sponsorships
-Help Account Executives develop new direct relationships with potential clients
-Meet and work with major advertising agencies around the St. Louis market
-Writing sales contracts, production orders and promotion recaps
-General clerical skills to include filing, faxing, telephone, etc.
-Attending promotion & sales meetings
-Act as liaison between production, programming and promotions for client and AE

Human Resources Interns
As an intern in the KMOX Human Resources Department, a student can gain valuable experience in many areas of the HR field.
Experience will include, but is not limited to:
-Implementing recruiting, job fairs, networking
-Federal and State employment laws
-Implementing policies – company wide & local
-Personnel management
-Benefits administration
-Assisting with day-to-day office operations
-Administering Affirmative Action Plan

Information Technology Interns
As an intern in the KMOX IT Department, a student can gain valuable experience in the IT field. Students must have an interest and desire to work in the IT field. Students will get exposure to all Windows Operating Systems, Office and other software, Switches and Ethernet topology. The student will also be exposed to network documentation and procedure manuals.

Engineering Interns
This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience and training from engineering professionals. Students must have an interest and desire to work in Engineering. Students will get exposure to all facets of broadcast operations through involvement in studio work, IT work, Remote Broadcasts and documentation and procedure manuals.
